Sami’s Autumn Session – Bel Air Children’s Photographer

Well it was the beginning of September, and for us here at the studio, that meant another photo session with little Samantha. Sami is a repeat client here at the studio and she loves to come and visit us to see what new props we have for her to play with and what new fun things we have for her to take part in. You can see Sami’s other session here. Our last session with Sami was a total hit, and this one proved to be exactly the same!
During this session with Sami we wanted to try to get some Fall and Halloween pictures, and she was totally cooperative. We got to use our Halloween “Baby Legs” with her, and they were perfect for her!

I think she enjoyed this scene the best, since she got to enjoy a delicious lollipop!

For this scene, Mom brought a wonderful orange shirt for Sami to wear to match the leaves and the scarecrow. She could not have been any cuter! I love her rolled jeans and her cute little toes sticking out!

In addition to Fall and Halloween photos, Mom and Dad wanted some more Spring and Summer scenes as well. So we dug out some of our picnic props that we hadn’t gotten a chance to use yet. I think Sami’s favorite new props were the watering cans, although she was very particular about where they should be placed in the scene, which was not always where the adults thought they should be placed.

For a girl who LOVES to play dress up and wear fabulous clothing, these next few scenes could not have been more enjoyable!

Mom wanted a few photos of Sami in her swimsuit from this Summer, so of course we were happy to oblige. The “swim cap” is actually a cute little hat that we have on hand, and it worked wonderfully for this. Sami was not as cooperative for this scene, it took a little bribing and some bubble blowing to get her to “smile pretty for the camera”, but you would never know it from looking at these photos.

One of the newest additions to the studio was a new fabric backdrop, and we could not wait to use it with Miss Sami! As excited as we all were to use the new backdrop, Mom and Dad included, we could not have predicted that the results would have been as stunning, modern, fun, and cute as they are!

The last scene we did with a very tired Miss Sami was using another pair of Baby Legs and an extra special sock monkey, that coincidentally matched the Baby Legs perfectly!

What a great session with a total cutie…again! We are definitely going to see Miss Sami and her Mom and Dad back in the studio again before the year is over. As always, we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us then!
This is the art piece that I created for this photo session for Samantha. I love the colors of this one and it gives off such a girlie feeling, perfect for this girlie-girl!

Lilly came into the Aberdeen studio with many members of her family for 18 month portraits. She was lucky enough to have her Mom, Grandma, Aunt and Uncle join her for her photo session. Lilly is a vibrant little girl; very energetic, and very cute. She brought a lot of energy into the studio in the middle of a very busy weekend of sessions.

We had a lot of fun with Lilly and trying different techniques with her. She wasn’t immediately willing to smile for us. so we had to work with her to find out what she enjoyed and what would make her giggle and smile easily. The bubbles were a hit with her, and she was very willing to play in the bubbles in her cute little bathing suit and sun hat, which Mom brought along with her.

Mom had a lot of ideas for photos that she wanted us to capture, and that was so helpful! It’s exactly what we want when parents bring their children in for a photo session. When we get this kind of input from parents, we end up with a nice mix of our ideas and their ideas. It makes for a nice collaboration. Mom wanted photos of Lilly in this outfit because she had just worn it in a Fourth of July parade and, well, she’s just so cute in it!

This next outfit was a total rock-star outfit! Lilly’s shirt read “No Autographs Please” and her jeans were “distressed” by Mom just for the photo session. They looked great! They had little holes torn in them and paint splotches on them; very rock and roll! And those pigtails are just to die for!

Of course, we had some ideas of our own for Lilly’s session and using our new petti-skirt was one of them. This is a prop we have been wanting for a while and we finally purchased one for the studio. Lilly was our first little cutie to try it out. I think it could be my favorite prop that we have in the studio! Little Lilly wore the colorful, fun skirt so well, and the flower clip adds just the right touch, also.

This is the art piece that was created for Lilly.

Lilly was a lot of fun to work with, and her family was also. We hope to see Lilly again in the future!
Sami’s Summer Session – Bel Air Child Photographer

Sami is one of our repeat clients and the camera just loves her! On this particular day, Sami arrived at the studio with her Mom and Dad in a yucky little mood. A poor stuffed pig was bearing the brunt of Sami’s dissatisfaction when she first entered the studio. We were worried that this would mean that the little darling would be uncooperative at best. Boy, were we wrong! Despite the mood she had when she showed up, this was possibly our best session with Sami to date.

Sami was so cooperative throughout the entire afternoon and charmed us over and over again with that delightful smile. We were able to keep her interest with a variety of props and things she hasn’t gotten to play with in the studio before. Perhaps Sami’s favorite props were the beaded necklaces, as she wanted to wear these in every scene! We were hesitant about the tutu, afraid that it would bother her or she wouldn’t like it being in her way. But, no way! She seemed to love getting ‘all dolled up’ to have her picture taken. She’s such a girlie girl!

This little girl is such a ball of joy and regardless of how much we doubted whether or not we would get to see that joy on this day, she spent most of the session just beaming! We wanted to make the most of her change in mood and try as many scenes with her as she would allow. This scene was one that we had wanted to try with Sami for a while and was a big hit with Kady a few weeks ago. I don’t know what it is about rubber ducks and bubbles, but Sami loved working in this scene as much as Kady did! (That tub must be way more comfortable than it looks!)

We were also able to use our new patriotic props and scenery with Sami just in time for the 4th of July. This photo is just too cute: the little pouty lip, the puffed out belly, jewels in tow, proud to be an American baby!

Again, she loved those necklaces and did not want to put them down! She will definitely be ready to celebrate on the 4th!

One of the scenes that Andrew and Nicole (Sami’s Dad and Mom) requested was a crabbing scene. Andrew’s father is a Maryland Waterman and crabber. This is often an undertaking for the whole family, painting and preparing pots to be put in the Bay, caring for the boat, and often the actual crabbing. We were able to find some great props to use for this scene including the net and a few good crabs. Andrew and Nicole provided the bushel basket and Sami’s custom-made onesie. No, friends, this is not supposed to look like blood! The red paint is sort of an inside joke among the family. Every year when it is time to paint the crab pots, with red paint, those helping wear almost as much paint on their clothing as they put on the pots. Andrew and Nicole figured it was about time that Sami donned her own red paint stained clothing just like the rest of them! I have a feeling this photo will be a family treasure for many, many years to come!

By the end of the session, we couldn’t believe how many scenes we were able to accomplish with Sami. She is always such a joy to work with and that smile can always melt the hearts of anyone in the room with her. We look forward to more sessions with Sami and her wonderful Mom and Dad, Nicole and Andrew, in the near future.
